“Hi-Jinks” is an original, unique, and one-of-a-kind prismatic oil pencil drawing on linen, hand-signed by the artist, humanitarian, actor Red Skelton. This wonderful and funny clown was actually a young self portrait of the artist. Both Mr. and Mrs. Skelton were exceptionally proud of this very important linen confirmed by the artist's willingness to be photographed with the drawing in his front yard on the Tamarisk Golf Course in Rancho Mirage, CA. The artist was holding the linen and an unlit cigar for the photograph. Mr. Skelton never smoked, but he “chomped” on cigars. Mr. Skelton told the story that Frank Sinatra, Red’s neighbor on the Tamarisk Golf Course saw the linen (as it was being held by Red) and asked to purchase it. At this time, the drawing was not for sale. This special work of art measures 21” x 20” and was framed by Mr. Skelton using the highest quality of museum mouldings and materials. The drawing features Mr. Skelton as a clown with a funny and mischievous face about ready to create a few “Hi-Jinks” in his home. The matching hat and bow tie reflect the artistry of this exceptionally fine work of art.
