My Dearest Friend

My Dearest Friend

Product Description:

“My Dearest Friend” is an original, unique, one-of-a-kind prismatic oil pencil drawing on linen, hand-signed by the internationally recognized artist, actor and humanitarian, Red Skelton. The artist signed and dated this original work of art in 1982. This work of art measures approximately 19” x 12” and is framed to an approximate measurement of 27.75” x 20.25” using the highest standards of museum-quality materials. The original owners of this unique work of art became friends with the artist, and they shared letters and notes from their Midwest residence to Mr. Skelton’s home in Southern California. Appended to this Certificate of Authenticity and Opinion of Value is a personal letter from the daughters of Denny and Carol, the original of “My Dearest Friend”. “My Dearest Friend” is a portrait of a female clown that Red first met in a circus setting in the 1930’s and 1940’s. A few clowns became personal friends with Red and many of them accepted Red’s advice relative to clown hair and formal make-up. This beautiful clown was painted with reddish-orange hair (the color of Red’s hair) and was dressed in a green hat and a green bowtie, also favorites of Red. When Mr. Skelton was drawing this special and unique clown, he led Mrs. Skelton to believe that “My Dearest Friend” might have been a girlfriend.
