Freddie - The Patriot

Freddie - The Patriot

Product Description:

“Freddie—The Patriot” is an original, one-of-a-kind, unique prismatic oil pencil drawing on linen, hand-signed by the artist, actor, humanitarian, and philanthropist, Red Skelton. This superb work of art measures approximately 37” x 37” and is magnificently framed using the highest quality museum-quality mouldings. This original and unique work of art features an impressive portrait of Freddie the Freeloader against the background of an American flag. The flag is meticulously colored in red and white stripes and the artist included white stars in a special blue background symbolizing the American flag. Freddie was one of Red’s most loveable fictional characters. He lived in the city dump and always was on the lookout for toys discarded by members of the community who typically disposed of them in the city dump—where Freddie lived. Freddie would clean the toys, fix them up, and distribute them over the holidays at the local children’s hospital. Mr. Skelton’s Christmas television shows always featured Freddie giving away the toys; and this annual television show was at that time one of the most watched programs on CBS television. Freddie simply captured the hearts of everyone who saw him, making this portrait one of Mr. Skelton’s most prominent and valuable. Included with this artwork is a rare photograph featuring Mr. and Mrs. Skelton presenting “Freddie—The Patriot” to the original owners.
